So when I made this blog, I didn't really think I would post much about news in the world of music, as I thought of this as more of a personal thing, and although I do keep up with somethings, I don't dedicate a whole lot of time for news. I mostly just listen to the music. But after today, I figured why not post some things. Today I saw Nightwish's news, so I thought I would post my two cents (before it hits the currency exchange for your country :P) about it. And since I'm such a big fan of Keldian, I'll talk about their news here too.
Okay, I know that every metal site that at least recognizes power/symphonic metal will have a post to do with this, but since I'm a big fan of Nightwish, I'm posting about it too.
Recently (September 29th), while Nightwish was touring here in the US, along with Kamelot, their vocalist Anette was in a hospital, and the guest female singers for Kamelot (Elize of Amaranthe and Alissa of The Agonist) covered for her as well as the crowd. The next day, Anette seemed to be fine and was singing along with Nightwish.
Today, Nightwish posted this Press Statement basically saying that Anette is no longer in Nightwish, although they left on good terms.
So, does this mean that Nightwish recognized they don't sound like their old selves? Did they give in to all the old fans complaining that they miss Tarja? Whatever their reason, they don't like the direction they are going in. Personally, I enjoyed their last two albums, as well as their previous five. So wherever they go in the future, I'll be there to welcome them with big arms. (If you recall from my first post, I like both new and old Nightwish :) )
This leaves me to wonder, who will be the next vocalist? Well, Elize and Alissa covered for her at the one show, but for the rest, Floor Jansen (of the now split up After Forever and currently with ReVamp) will be singing in her place. So in my mind, the possibilities are Elize and Floor, or someone else we haven't heard of quite yet. Now, I haven't listened to a whole lot of After Forever (I know, this may be blasphemy to some of you) I only really listened to their last album, which was pretty phenomenal, and I have ReVamp's album which I liked a few songs from. She has a great voice, and I've even seen around the web that some think Nightwish were a successful After Forever clone. I would need to listen to more After Forever to see how similar they are, but I like both, and respect both. But this would mean that Floor would make a pretty good replacement singer for Nightwish.
A little while ago, I wanted to find out more about Elize, and one of the pages I ended up on, was Kamelot's page for her. Just as I was typing this up, I went back to that page to talk about something I found there. But since I last visited, that part has been removed. Now, finding it so interesting, I posted it on a page dedicated to metal among my friends on Facebook, and put the quote on there. So I'll post what I saw on Kamelot's page here, but now with a grain of salt. I mean, why did they remove it? Maybe it wasn't true? Here's the quote:
"It was the beginning of a strong and fructuous friendship between Jake, Olof and Elize. It's around the same time that the band NIGHTWISH showed some interest in Elize for the spot of front singer, as a replacement for Tarja Turunen. However, at this moment Elize had just graduated from a three year long education at Gothenburg's Performing Arts School - School for Professional Musical Artists - and her interest in joining Olof and Jake's project was already aroused."
A friend and I talked at the time, and he said that Nightwish should have taken Elize when they could have (He really dislikes Anette being in Nightwish). I had said, based on what the quote said, it sounded like Elize turned down Nightwish, not the other way around. My friend then replied saying something like if she could have been in Nightwish, she would have, because at the very least, it would've really helped with her career. I lastly said that maybe she just wanted to be a band with her friends instead of being with someone else, but I understand that maybe she wasn't offered a chance for joining Nightwish.
I talked with another friend around that same time about this, wondering what Nightwish would be like if Elize did join. That would probably mean no Amaranthe. Since I love both of Anette Nightwish's albums, and love Amarathe's album, I am satisfied the way things turned out.
Today, on the same page for metal I mentioned earlier, we were talking about how Anette left Nightwish, and one of us said they hoped that Elize would be next up for Nightwish. I said that I'd rather her focus her time with Amaranthe, since they're such a great band. But since Amaranthe is currently recording their 2nd album, maybe once they're done with that, Elize will also join Nightwish. It would be pretty good timing. Things would work out pretty well.
All in all, we'll just have to wait, time will tell. We don't know everything yet. And as I said before, I will be welcoming Nightwish in the future.
Now on to Keldian! xD
The other day, they just made a post saying that they wanted to share a little bit about their history with us. This history, is early incarnations of Keldian, being Protos Nemesis, the Japanese bonus track for Heaven's Gate (which I'm pretty sure is "Hope") and possibly another incarnation of Keldian called Keld? I'm not 100% sure on the last two because Keldian hasn't given us the information on them quite yet. Hopefully soon. Anyways, you can download the songs from their page, or you can listen to it from my YouTube playlist.
Also, theirs a person from Mexico who claims that they're the world's number one fan. I gonna fight for that title :P
So that's all I have to say for now. I might post more in the future. Maybe not. We'll see xD
